Two local soccer juniors invited into AC Milan program

TWO local soccer players have the opportunity of a lifetime, invited by Italian giants AC Milan to attend their European development program in Milan this month.

Reg Sharpe of Italo Stars and Molly Parker of Bangalow impressed AC Milan talent scouts at recent trials conducted at SCU's new Asia Pacific Football Institute in Lismore.

Sharpe is a former Nimbin Headers junior now playing with the Italo Stars Grade 15 side, while Parker, who is also 15, has been with Bangalow since the age of five and was in the club's premier women's side which won the premiership this year.

But the opportunity is not without its costs and Reg's mum Trisha has been trying to raise the $6000 needed to get him to Italy.

To help with the fund-raising, a family fun day will be held today at the Italo-Australian Club in Barrow Lane, North Lismore.

The highlight will be a game between Reg's clubs, Italo Stars and Nimbin Headers, at 5pm.

There will also be a carwash from noon, kids' activities, barbecue, refreshments and raffles.
