WATCH: Pups abandoned on highway find new homes

SAMANTHA Lawson didn't want to believe someone could abandon five small puppies.

But she's come to the conclusion that must have been how the pups ended up on the side of the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd.

Samantha took the pups home after she ran into a stranger at a pet shop who had found them along the highway Friday.

Fed and watered, the pups were soon sleeping happily and Samantha put a call out on several Rockhampton Facebook pages to find out if they had just been lost.

Over the weekend, a former RSPCA worker got in touch with her and adopted one dog, and another two soon followed.

Samantha is still looking for good homes for the remaining two.

She said it was "just so horrible" to think someone may have left the dogs on the roadside deliberately and warned owners to desex their pets to avoid unwanted litters.
