Aaron's the man

MOST tries, most points and the minor premiership - Grafton Ghosts' Aaron Hartmann capped a stellar season last night when he was named the Retravision Northern League player of the year.

The robust centre was the toast of the league as he collected three gongs at the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League presentation evening at the Italo-Austalian Club, North Lismore.

Hartmann finished the regular season with 24 points, as voted by referees, ahead of Grafton Rhinos' Xavier Sullivan on 20 points and South Tweed's Aaron Zimmerle on 18.

He polled strongly throughout the season, registering points in 10 of the 18 rounds, seven of which saw him collect player-of-the-match honours.

He finished the regular season with a personal tally of 247 points, tallied from 28 tries, 66 goals and one field goal.

Byron Bay's Clarence Kelly was the second highest try scorer with 27 four-pointers, while team-mate Jarrod De Thierry was the highest goal scorer with 77 successful kicks.

De Thierry also scored 10 tries to finish as the second-highest point scorer with 218, 29 points behind Hartmann.

Kelly's brilliance will the ball earned him 11 points in the player of the year voting, equal with Ballina's Chris Coleman and Marist Brothers' Simon Andrews.

Brothers' prop Tim Tregdigo finished with 10 points, level with Kyogle prop Billy Baleilomaloma.
