Second woman accuses Bush of groping

A SECOND woman has accused former US President George HW Bush of sexually harassing her.

According to Deadspin, actress Jordana Grolnick said the alleged incident happened in August 2016 when she was appearing in The Hunchback of Notre Dame at a Maine theatre, which was attended by Mr Bush and his wife, Barbara.

"We all circled around him and Barbara for a photo, and I was right next to him," Grolnick said.

"He reached his right hand around to my behind, and as we smiled for the photo he asked the group, 'Do you want to know who my favourite magician is?'

"As I felt his hand dig into my flesh, he said, 'David Cop-a-Feel!'"

Grolnick said those present "laughed politely and out of discomfort," and that former first lady Barbara Bush "said something along the lines of, 'He's going to get himself put into jail!'"

Grolnick said she remembers thinking, "Whatever. He's a dirty old man."

The actress posted a photo to her Instagram page showing her standing next to Bush, whose hand appears to be near her backside.

She wrote: "George H W Bush has a favourite magician. It's 'David Cop-A-Feel.' He told us so. Barbara has no opinion on magicians. #history."

She has since made her Instagram profile private.

Grolnick also offered up advice to other women. "What I've come to realise is that if we tolerate these small comments and grazes from men on the street or former presidents, they might assume that it's OK with us, and they may take it as permission to do who-knows-what else.

"I realise that making light of the situation was the wrong move. It wasn't OK for him to do that to me," she said.

Grolnick's revelations come days after another actress, Heather Lind, said that Mr Bush groped her during a 2014 photo shoot.

Lind alleged via an Instagram post earlier this week that, in March 2014, Mr Bush had touched her "from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side", adding he told her a "dirty joke".

She wrote: "When I got the chance to meet George HW Bush four years ago to promote a historical television show I was working on, he sexually assaulted me while I was posing for a similar photo.

"He didn't shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side. He told me a dirty joke."

According to the social media post - which has since been deleted - a nearby security guard told Lind that she "shouldn't have stood next to him for the photo".

Bush spokesperson Jim McGrath responded with a statement that reads: "At age 93, President Bush has been confined to a wheelchair for roughly five years, so his arm falls on the lower waist of people with whom he takes pictures.

"To try to put people at ease, the president routinely tells the same joke - and on occasion, he has patted women's rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner.

"Some have seen it as innocent; others clearly view it as inappropriate. To anyone he has offended, President Bush apologises most sincerely."
