A dream realised

SITTING down to a good cup of coffee and relaxing with friends looking out on an ocean view. Sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

Katrina Williams of Evans Head is hoping that's what more people will start to do at her recently opened cafe at the Evans Head Surf Club.

Mrs Williams opened the Surf Cafe on October 28 and will remain open for the summer season.

"My business is seasonal, I won't be opening over winter so most of my business will be done over the holiday period," she said.

Mrs Williams is a qualified chef who underwent her training in Lismore then gained experience working at the Hilton hotel in Brisbane.

"The majority of the food is all cooked fresh from scratch here, and I have a nice breakfast menu and burgers and chips and stuff like that for lunch," she said.

"And I like to source as much locally as I can."

Mrs Williams said it has always been her dream to open her own cafe.

"I am hoping I can offer a product that keeps people coming back," she said.

"I suppose it is a tricky (economic) time but the option came up and I decided I would give it a go."

Mrs Williams offers locally grown Nat's Coffee from Alstonville, and there are milkshakes and smoothies on offer as well.

The Surf Cafe is open seven days a week during the school holidays from 7am to 7pm. Contact Katrina on 0416246588.
