Two charged for assisting prisoner to escape

TWO people have charged with assisting the escape of Goulburn prisoner Beau Wiles.

A 39-year-old Wollongong man was arrested at his home on Thursday night.

Earlier, Wiles's girlfriend, 32-year-old Rebecca Watts, was arrested and charged after she and Wiles were intercepted by police while driving on Five Islands Rd, Unanderra, 160km from Goulburn.

Wiles escaped about 10am on Wednesday, getting into a black getaway car after exiting the Goulburn jail's work yard.

He had served one month of an 18-month sentence.
