Towns evacuated ahead of approaching bushfires in Victoria

A BUSHFIRE on Victoria's south-west coast led to evacuations in towns between Lorne and Apollo Bay yesterday.

The CFA told residents and tourists in Wye River and Separation Creek to seek shelter and protect themselves if they had failed to follow the evacuation warning by 1pm.

The fire - which covers more than 600 hectares of hilly, heavily forested terrain - has been burning for a week.
