Syria decision may not happen for another week

APN NEWSDESKIT WILL likely be another week before America makes its decision on whether to respond to Syria's apparent use of chemical weapons on civilians.

CNN reported US President Barack Obama was now planning to seek congressional approval for a US-led military intervention. Congress would consider the strategy in the week of September 9.

On the weekend, the President wrote to both houses of American congress - the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The bill to green-light US involvement in the Syrian conflict will be "to deter, disrupt, prevent and degrade the potential for future uses of chemical weapons or other weapons of mass destruction".

The American public has so far been cool on the idea of intervening in the aftermath of its long-running involvement in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
