Sammy-Jo scores first century
LISMORE all-rounder Sammy-Jo Johnson has taken an immediate liking to English conditions by scoring her first century in any cricket.
The 17-year-old is playing for the Cumbria senior women’s team in England’s north.
In a match against a leading junior boys representative selection, Sammy-Jo scored 110 in her team’s total of 173.
Unfortunately the women still fell 17 runs short of victory.
Earlier, the Lismore youngster had taken 3-22 from eight overs with her medium-pacers.
Sammy-Jo is in England for five months.
She is being supported financially by the Lord’s Taverners Northern NSW branch based in Lismore, which was formed only last year.
