He is woman, hear him roar! Les Girls take-over

THE Kyogle Bowling Club will never be the same again after 'Kyogle's Les Girls' take to the stage for a night of sheer extravagance this Saturday.

The producers of the show, Stan Munroe (Kyogle's own Female Impersonator), Susan James (Original Les Girls and functions designer) and Michael Gates (Lismore Bridal and wig maker for Priscilla Queen of the Desert Musical) have organised a fabulous show not to be missed as part of the Kyogle Fringe Festival.

The night will kick-off with champagne on arrival, followed by a gourmet three course meal and table wines. Then be treated to a one-hour cabaret show featuring the fabulous Les Girls, rarely seen on the Northern Rivers.

Stan Munroe is a legend in Australian show biz, mostly known for his starring role at Les Girls in Melbourne for seven years - a record in cabaret. He has travelled the world with his comedy in such places as the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Singapore and has now settled in Kyogle and become a local identity.

Maude Boat (Michael Gates) started doing drag performances at the infamous Albury Hotel on Oxford Street, Sydney, with a drag group called the Scary Fairies in 1990.This group was the inspiration for Priscilla Queen of the Desert where Felichia was Maude's character.

At 19, Susan was hired by famous entrepreneur Sammy Lee to star in the Sydney Les Girls Show in Kings Cross. Susan also worked in many League, RSL and nightclubs throughout Australia. Sammy Lee then opened the Melbourne Les Girls with Susan and Stan Munro.

After the cabaret, dance the night away to live music. The Kyogle Bowling Club is located on Larkin Street, Kyogle.

Tickets are for sale at Kyogle Real Estate for $95 per head or are available at the door on the night. Arrive 6.30pm for 7pm. For more information, visit www.kyoglefringefestival.com.
