Graziers are looking to buy, just not from Clive it seems

WHILE cashed-up graziers are looking for investments around Central Queensland it seems that Clive Palmer is having trouble selling his $8.25m cattle station near Marlborough.

The property went to auction last month and an offer was passed in. A decision will be made next week on a way forward to sell it.

Meanwhile, there is stronger confidence in the cattle industry with Herron Todd White's Month in Review reporting Central Queensland graziers are looking to make some off-farm investment purchases in the Rockhampton area.

The report speculates that one purchase in the city is already underway with a local grazier having a $2.4 million industrial property under contract. It's believed it's an investment purchase and the building was vacant.

Meanwhile, the industrial market in Rockhampton for this year looks set to continue at the same trend as 2015, with small amounts of investor activity and most of the demand driven by the owner-occupier market in the sub $1 million price range, largely driven by interest rates remaining at an all-time low.

Rental levels are expected to remain steady, with continued expectation by tenants for incentives such as rent-free periods.

Rental levels for heavy duty, well located industrial workshops are likely to remain in the range of $130 to $150 gross per square metre, with rentals for smaller workshops falling in the $90 to $120 gross per square metre range.

Up in Mackay the industrial market is doing it tough, due to a decline in the local economy which is largely reliant on the regional coal mining industry.
