A wheelie bad idea

A TEENAGE motorcycle rider has been charged after being seen doing a wheelie on a motorbike.

Police went looking for the 16-year-old after getting reports he had been seen driving dangerously at West Ballina.

They found the youth on an orange motorbike at Riverside Drive, where he gave them a demonstration of his talents by bouncing the front suspension of the bike and roared away doing a wheelie.

Officers spotted the teen in action again at Oakland Avenue where he did a 30 metre-long wheelie before almost crashing when he had to avoid a car at the intersection of Kalinga Street.

Police swooped in then, issuing the rider with a penalty notice for failing to wear an "L" plate and ordering him to go to court for dangerous driving.
