Woman hit by car on highway

AN 84-year-old woman from Alstonville was hit by a car this morning while she was crossing the Bruxner Highway.

At 7.35am, the woman walked onto the highway at Perry's Hill and a car, believed to be travelling at 80km/h collided with her.

Her head hit the windscreen and she was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with serious leg and head injuries.

The driver, a 66-year-old man from Alstonville, was breath tested by police and produced a negative result.

Meanwhile, emergency services attended another accident at Richmond Hill about 6.50am this morning.

One patient was trapped in the vehicle for an hour and was transported to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious condition with multiple leg fractures.

Both patients are in a stable condition in hospital.
