7 Top Truckin' Things To Do

WELCOME to 2018, Big Rigs readers.

There is no doubt there will be hundreds of trucking events on all around the country throughout the entire year, and we would like to tell you about as many of them as possible.

So if you are planning and organising a trucking event or know of one that's coming up, please let us know too so we can pass the message on to all of our readers.

Here's a list of some of them you might like to get along to and to be a part of.

  • January 13-14: Geelong Classic Truck and Machinery Show

Geelong Classic Truck and Machinery Show at the Geelong Showgrounds is being held for the fifth year in a row.

And if you are interested in incredible mechanical equipment, old trucks, cars, tractors, live displays, and the spectacle of a tractor pull, this might just be a great way to kick off your truckin' year.

The show is renowned for having the biggest and best display of restored working vintage machinery and tractors in Australia.

  • January 20: Tooradin Tractor Pull and Truck Show

It's all going ahead at the Rutter Reserve at Tooradin in Victoria and includes a car show as part of the event.

Show has been held annually since 1998 and has grown into a fabulous family day packed with lots of fun things to see and do.

It is a non-profit event run by a committee of local community people putting all proceeds back into local clubs, schools and various charities.

Admission: adults $35, kids $10, family $65.

  • January 27-28: Allora Heritage Weekend

The heritage weekend will be held over the Australia Day long weekend at the Allora Showgrounds on the New England Highway, Allora, Queensland.

Among its display themes for 2018 are Chamberlain and Caterpillar tractors, Chrysler cars and Volvo and European trucks.

Admission: adults $5, children free.

  • February 17-18: Spirit of the Hume

The Spirit of the Hume dinner and dance will be held at Broadford in Victoria.

The event is described as "the night of nights" to celebrate the Australian transport industry and share in great company.

Revellers can expect a key note speaker, three course sit down meal, an impressive range of auction items, live music/DJ and more.

  • March 11: Penrith Working Truck Show

The 31st Annual Penrith Working Truck Show at the Museum of Fire Penrith is recognised as one of Western Sydney's major annual events with 20,000 people enjoying a friendly family day show casing the best of the transport industry.

Admission: adults $35 and with each adult ticket purchased, three children can enter for free up to 16 years.

  • March 17: Oil Patch Reunion

The Oil Patch Reunion will be held at the Woolshed at Jondaryan Queensland.

Drilling companies, service companies, energy companies all staff including office and camp staff are welcome to attend the reunion.

The theme of the 2018 Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association's annual conference is"Cutting Red Tape".

The LBRCA is a community of livestock, bulk and rural carriers who transport Australia's essential agricultural products through regional and rural NSW.

  • April 13, 14 and 15: The National Diesel Dirt and Turf Expo

The National Diesel Dirt and Turf Expo is being held at the Penrith Panthers, 123 Mulgoa Road, Penrith.

It's a family-friendly show with loads of entertainment for everyone.

Live demonstrations will be running throughout the three days with Operator Challenges and lots of giveaways on many of the stands.

  • April 14 and 15: Crawlin' the Hume 2018 run from Campbellfield to Albury

Join fellow-minded people and travel much of the Old Hume Highway.

The 2018 run starts at the Ford Factory in Campbellfield and travels through Kalkallo, Wallan, up Pretty Sally, Kilmore, Tallarook, Seymour, Euroa, Benalla, Winton Raceway, Glenrowan, Wangaratta, Chiltern, Wodonga and finishes in Albury.
