50yo man charged with alleged glassing on Jacaranda Thursday

POLICE have charged a man following an alleged glassing of another man in Grafton on Jacaranda Thursday.

On the afternoon of November 5, a 44-year-old man attended a hotel on Prince St with a group of people.

About 6.30pm, the man left the hotel before an altercation ensued between he and another man, aged 50.

The pair continued to the corner of Pound and Prince Sts, where the older man allegedly armed himself with two bottles, before smashing them and assaulting the younger man a number of times.

Emergency services were called and both men were taken to hospital.

About 4pm yesterday (Thursday, November 12), the 50-year-old man left Lismore Hospital and was arrested by police, before being taken to Lismore Police Station.

He has been charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail, to appear at Lismore Local Court today.

The younger man has also been released from hospital, where he was treated for cuts to his head and neck.
