Andy Griffiths children’s play adaptation in Lismore Hall

ANDY Griffiths' tale, The 26-Storey Treehouse, will be performed at Lismore City Hall tonight as a stage adapted version.

It's a sold out show ahead of a national tour, but lucky visitors at the Macadamia Castle at Knockrow were treated to a special sneak peek performance yesterday.

Cast member James Lee, who plays Captain Woodenhead and Hector Houtkop, has worked on major productions including Les Miserable and Phantom of the Opera.

He said there was something special about performing in a children's show.

"It's seeing their faces," he said. "If they're young they are terrified of me; if they are a little bit older it's just that sheer delight of being up close to a pirate."

Director Liesel Badorrek said those who knew the book would still be surprised.

"You have to create a bit of a story around it so that it makes sense on stage," she said. "So there's this little mystery tale woven in, and a few other bits of random madness."
