Casa produces a grande exhibition
All that remained of the Sharks after their visit to Nielson Park on Saturday was the flotsam of their hopes as Rovers harpooned and flayed their visitors 5-1.
Rovers flanker Ben Casagrande was the primary destroyer for the men in black and white, scoring twice and setting up their other goals in an carnivorous display of speed and skill that easily earned him the man-of-the-match points.
Casagrandes two goals should be considered a defacto hat trick as the opening goal was an own goal deflected from one of his crosses. Russell Dent and Troy Matthews scored the other goals for Rovers, and James Everingham scored an exceptional left-footed goal from the edge of the box to give Lennox some consolation.
In the only other game played on the wet weekend Lismore Workers went down to Italo Stars 3-0 under new floodlights on Rec 12. A gathering of life members, councillors and club supporters took part in an opening ceremony for the lights before the game but it wasnt enough to inspire the Redmen. To make matters worse the Redmen went into the game without key players Anthony Alvos and Jeremy Wraight.
Jake Pratten opened the scoring for Stars with a clean strike, a defensive error gifted Mark Maslen their second goal and Maslen finished the rout by slotting the teams third.
