Transit 2014 to showcase work of local students

TRANSIT 2014 is the culmination and celebration of three years of hard work and Awesome Art by Bachelor of Visual Arts students at Southern Cross University Lismore.

The 35 participating graduates, painters, printmakers and 3D artists will be displaying a diverse range of styles.

With all artwork being for sale, it is a great opportunity to secure a unique piece of art from these emerging artists.

Among these are the works of Tweed resident Elaine Green.

The motivation for Elaine's current body of work is that of pondering Biocentrism and the theory of 'Zero Energy'- that in the universe positive energy in the form of matter is exactly cancelled out by negative energy in the form of gravity and the amount of energy never increases or decreases.

Her interest in this is the idea of 'Life After Death' - In simple terms, if we are all made up of energy and energy never dies therefore our bodies may die but our consciousness continues to live and just moves on.

The resulting paintings are abstract memories of fleeting moments of energy, the edge of a cloud, a puff of smoke, steam, vapour or a spray of water, moments that disappear as quickly as they form.

Transit 2014 opens at 5pm on Fri. 17th Oct. V block SCU Lismore and all are welcome, there will drinks, nibbles and entertainment. The show runs until 31st Oct.
