Myself and a number of friends, two, having travelled from Brisbane, attended the 2013 Ballina Fine Wine, Fun and Food Affair. What a disappointment! The change of format from previous years was a disaster. Instead of enjoying the sunshine in wide open grassed areas, it was held in two function areas of the Jockey Club. Should have been named the Sardine Club. Queuing for 20 mins or more for a sample of food, some of which certainly wasn’t worth the wait. There were less than half the exhibitors represented than 2012. The event was held between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. By 3 p.m. a number closed having ran out of food samples. This being the major fund raiser held by Rotary Club I strongly suggest they consider returning to the original format. I have spoken to a large number of people who are of the same opinion and should the 2014 Food Affair remain in the current format they would not be attending.
