20 years in one job, but Vicki still loves her work
"LOVED, happy and bubbly" Lismore resident Vicki Lingard has celebrated two decades working for accounting firm Crowe Horwath.
Ms Lingard was originally employed through disability employment service, ON-Q, when the business was only five years old and celebrating 100 clients.
Twenty years later, ON-Q has thousands of clients and Ms Lingard holds many memories of her time with Crowe Horwath.
She said she still loves the job and the people she works alongside.
Her parents, Keith and Joy Lingard, attended a surprise morning tea hosted by Crowe Horwath yesterday to celebrate Ms Lingard's milestone.
"She's never had a problem waking up in the morning and there's no trouble getting her to work," Mr Lingard said.
"We can't thank the company enough. They've been wonderful to her.
"She's not the shy little girl she used to be and she communicates a lot better."
"She's treated no differently and that's wonderful for us as parents ... it's changed Vicki's life," Mrs Lingard said.
Crowe Horwath manager, Scott Johnson, said it had been a pleasure working with her for the past 15 years.
"She's changed a lot and this position has helped her along the way ... she's always happy and is always keen to have a chat," he said.
"A lot of people come and go but everyone remembers Vicki and her bubbly personality."
ON-Q employment consultant, Petar Ilic, said it was wonderful to see people with disabilities have access to these opportunities.
"It allows them to have great change in their own life," he said. "They're part of the community, they're valued members.
"It's wonderful to see Vicki here, so genuinely welcomed into the workplace."
