20 dead after plane crash in Kyrgyzstan

A TURKISH Airlines cargo plane has gone down near Manas airport in Kyrgyzstan, according to reports from News Corp. 

At this stage the number of people reported as dead stands at 20 with European media saying the plane crashed into basic housing just outside of the city. 

Local authorities have reportedly said the majority of those killed in the incident - 19 out of the 20 - were residents who died when the plane crashed into their property. 

The body of the pilot has been recovered.
