$1.2m funding for Kyogle

THE streets of Kyogle will be beautified after the local council got $1.2 million worth of development funding from the Federal Minister for Transport and Infrastructure yesterday.

Kyogle Council had applied for the funding to continue the work in the main street, which stopped a year ago due to a lack of funds.

The Minister, Anthony Albanese, said the funds were well deserved.

“This project is an important part of the regional and local infrastructure program,” he said.

“This is all about priorities set by local government councillors, who determined this was the one project that they wanted as their priority.

“So rather then Canberradeciding what is good for Kyogle it has been decided here in the town.”

Federal MP for Page, Janelle Saffin, said the upgrade would make a difference to an already picturesque town.

“Kyogle Council worked really hard putting in their submission, but it will make such a great difference to a town that is already picture-perfect and beautiful,” she said.
