$1.25m worth of dope seized

POLICE have seized cannabis potentially worth $1.25 million in a three-day operation in the Coffs Harbour region.

Coffs/Clarence crime manager, Detective Inspector Cameron Lindsay, said the blitz focused on national parks and uncovered 242 cannabis plants growing in dense scrub.

They were up to 1.5 metres tall.

The biggest crops were found near Glenreagh, Cascade and Dorrigo. Officers also targeted the Bellingen, Dundurrabin and Woolgoolga districts.

A man, 35, will face court on January 11 on a charge of cultivating a prohibited plant.

Mr Lindsay said police expected to make more arrests as their inquiries continued.

He said the cannabis eradication program had been highly successful and he vowed it would continue into the future.
