Dr. Ramesh Iyer attained fellowship of the Royal Australasian
College of Surgeons
(FRACS) in 2008. His sub-speciality interest is in breast and endocrine surgery
although he has a broad range of general surgical practice performing open and
laparoscopic elective and emergency surgeries.
He is a member of the breast section of the Royal
Australasian College
of Surgeons and a founding member of Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand
(BreastsurgANZ). He has a particular interest in the evidence based treatment
of breast cancers and performs the full range of surgical treatment for breast
cancers including sentinel node biopsies by the hot and blue technique. He also
has special interest in thyroid and parathyroid operations.
He is a senior lecturer at university
of Queensland and is the discipline
academic supervisor for general surgery at the Ipswich
clinical school. He has research interests in his field of practice and
actively participates in various clinical trials.
