THE population of Wardell Public School has recently increased with the arrival of the new kindergarten class and a new principal.

Principal David Owen has arrived from Wyrallah Public School and is looking forward to the 2012 school year at Wardell.

"It's a wonderful job being a teaching principal," he said. "It is one of the most rewarding jobs as I still have the pleasure of being with the kids as well as administering and running the school."

The three newest students who make up the 2012 kindergarten class are also excited to be starting at "big school".

"I just started at this school," Deegan Devine, 5, said. "I like to sit next to my brother."

Bella Blaber, 5, knew what her favourite activity at school was. "Playing," she said in no uncertain times.

"I like playing the 'puters," Amy Cremin, 5, said. "And I get to play with Bella too."

Mr Owen said in a small school it was easier to get to know the children, making teaching more enjoyable.
