PEAK hour motorists were faced with an interesting obstacle yesterday morning when a piece of roadwork machinery fell off a truck and onto a busy highway.

At about 8.30am, road workers were preparing to lift a small road roller off the back of a semi-trailer on the Bruxner Hwy, east of Goonellabah near the Alphadale Rd intersection.

The roller apparently appeared to have tipped off the truck and landed on its side in the westbound lane, partially blocking traffic.

A NSW Transport Management spokesman said the incident was cleared in less than an hour.

In the afternoon, the wet weather threw some motorists off guard with emergency services rushing to a car roll-over north of Kyogle.

Hours after the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning, a storm cell ripped through the Kyogle-Nimbin area just after 4pm.

At about 4.30pm, a car lost control and flipped in heavy rain on Roseberry Creek Rd, near the Summerland Way intersection at Rukenvale.

The three occupants were not trapped and sustained injuries that were not life threatening.
