Gotye a sure thing in Hottest 100

THERE has not been a surer bet to take out the number one spot in Triple J's Hottest 100 since The Offspring's Pretty Fly (for a White Guy) took out the title in 1998.

Australia Day has become just as much out the influential countdown which chronicles the years most popular songs and attracts millions of votes.

Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' "break-up" duet with Kiwi sensation Kimbra is the most successful Australian single in more than 10 years and is set to take out the top position in this year's countdown, which kicks off today at 11am QLD and noon NSW.

It is the shortest priced favourite ever to top the Hottest 100.

Sporting bet currently has the song at 1.11 to 1 (or a $1 bet pays $1.11).

Other songs expected to make the top ten are multiple ARIA award winners Boy and Bear's Feeding Line, Brother by Matt Corby, Act Yr Age by Bluejuice and Architecture in Helsinki's Contact High.
