Trinity's prayer, platters, punting

Tags: brother peter carroll, lismore turf club, trinity catholic college

GOING straight from mass to the race track for a flutter on the gee gees is not the norm for Brother Peter Carroll, but it was for a good cause yesterday.

The Trinity Catholic College principal was looking at placing a bet on the favourite, Far Dooley, at the Trinity Cup at the Lismore Turf Club as the Trinity jubilee celebration weekend finished up.

The jubilee was celebrating 25 years of the Trinity Catholic College, 100 years of the Marist Brothers being in Lismore and 125 years since the Presentation Sisters arrived in Lismore and formed St Marys, Br Carroll said.

The jubilee celebrations started with nostalgic tours of the college, a reunion dinner on Saturday night and the launch of the college's pictorial history book, Jubilee.

Yesterday there was a mass to bless the commissioned stained-glass Marist centenary window, followed by the Trinity race day.

"There's been a lot of gratitude expressed for everything that has happened over the past 100 years," Br Carroll said.
