Project Manager of the Back Alley Gallery, Nathan Eyres, stands in Eggins Lane, with some of his artwork, at the proposed laneway for the Back Alley Gallery.
LISMORE artist Nathan Eyres would like to cover streets of Lismore in art.
But the 24-year-old paste-up artist will settle for 500m of laneway in the middle of the town's CBD.
Mr Eyres has a plan to turn Eggins Lane, from Carrington Street to Keen Street into an art gallery - to be known as the The Back Alley Gallery - featuring paste-ups (art done on butcher paper and glued up), stencils, yarn-bombing and graffiti.
"It will turn a neglected industrial landscape into something enjoyable to the public eye," Mr Eyres said.
The gallery will provide a designated space where people can create street art without getting arrested, he said.
The artwork will be semi-permanent and Mr Eyres hopes it will be lit up at night for people to enjoy.
In Melbourne a similar laneway is considered to be a gallery of world class art.
The plan has the support of City Centre manager Katie O'Rourke who said she was very excited about the project and it's potential to be part the revitalisation of the city centre.
The concept was also met with enthusiasm from the Business Promotional Panel.
However, it would need to be properly funded and permission from the building owners would also need to be given.
Art in the Heart co-ordinator Stephen Nelson said the concept was another example of creative thinking from Lismore's vibrant artistic community.
