Splendour's Woodford return confirmed

SPLENDOUR in the Grass officials have confirmed the festival will return to Woodfordia for this year's event.

This is the second year Splendour in the Grass will be held at the Sunshine Coast Hinterland site, while the approval process for the festival’s permanent home at North Byron Parklands continues.

Since 2006, Splendour in the Grass has been working toward establishing a permanent, sustainable event venue to stage the festival at the 660-acre North Byron Parklands site at Yelgun in the north of the shire.

The Parklands project is still undergoing a comprehensive approval process with the NSW Department of Planning.

Festival co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said any damage inflicted on the Woodfordia site during January’s floods would be repaired by the time of the festival.

“We wouldn’t be announcing Woodfordia as the location for the 2011 Splendour in the Grass festival if we weren’t completely confident that was the case,” Ducrou and Piticco said in a joint statement.

"Apart from pulling together another cracking line-up, one of the areas we have been concentrating on has been traffic in and around the site.

"The big news on the 2011 line-up and ticketing info will be announced in coming months. We’re looking forward to sharing it with you."

The winter music celebration will be held  at Woodfordia across three days from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July, 2011.
