IT'S NOT often that anglers want to see a carp on the end of their fishing line when they reel it in.

However, come October 9 and 10, anglers won't just be hoping to see the aquatic pest, they will be actively fishing for them as part of the Casino RSM Social Fishing Club's annual carp muster, which offers the chance to win a share of $3000 prizemoney.

Held for the first time last year, the muster aims to put a major dent in the carp population in the Richmond River and its tributaries between Swan Bay and Cooks Weir at Casino.

Anyone can take part in the muster, with entry fees set at $15 for adults, $10 for pensioners and $5 for children. However, all adults must have a current fishing licence.

The adult catching the largest carp will take home $600, while the junior angler bagging the biggest carp will win $200.

To enter, anglers can fill out the registration form and drop it and their entry fee at the Casino RSM Club, or at Rex Clarke's home at 131 Hotham Street, Casino.
