The wrongs & rights of the election campaign will be examined closely by both major parties.
LIBERAL MPs and senators have gone into their first partyroom meeting since the federal election buoyed by the narrowest of losses.
The party's numbers swelled in the August 21 election, which produced Australia's first hung parliament in 70 years.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott told the meeting in Parliament House, Canberra, the Liberals had made the country proud, and would continue to do so for the next three years.
He singled out several MPs for special mention - including the first indigenous lower house MP Ken Wyatt, who won the Perth-based seat of Hasluck, John Alexander, who snatched the Sydney seat of Bennelong back from Labor, and Queenslanders Warren Entsch and Teresa Gambaro, who won back their parliamentary places after a break from politics.
"This is a great team," he said.
"It's a band of brothers and sisters.
"We are united in our values, we are united in our faith in ourselves and in our country."
There was hearty applause for Mr Abbott and the MPs he singled out for praise.
The Labor caucus will hold its first meeting since the poll at 10.30am (AEST), minus about a score of its members from the previous parliament.
