$5000 for Lismore bus initiative

THE Lismore Late Nighter bus service has received $5000 from NRMA Motoring & Services.

The bus operates every Saturday night to provide a safe, reliable and cost-effective transport option.

NRMA president Wendy Machin said the NRMA was proud to support road safety initiatives which made a real difference at a local level.

“We are particularly excited about the three road safety projects for Northern NSW which provide a range of education programs and innovative strategies for preschoolers, primary and high school students and the general community,” Ms Machin said.

“Lismore City Council is to be congratulated for making road safety a priority with its Late Nighter bus service which provides locals frequenting pubs a safe transport alternative home.”

The other two local projects were: $5000 for Grafton Community of Schools for their risk-prevention program for all Year 10/11 students at high schools; and $1000 for Rollands Plains Upper Public School so Years 3-6 students can travel to Port Macquarie to create a road safety video which will then be posted on the school’s website and used to teach the infant students.
