COOLANGATTA police are calling for any information after a man who robbed a bank remains on the run.

CCTV Footage: Police would like to question this man about an armed robbery.

COOLANGATTA police are calling for help as a man who robbed a bank remains at large.

About 9am Tuesday, the man entered the Suncorp Bank on Griffith Street and passed the teller a threatening note and indicated that he was armed with a weapon.

The man then left the premises with a sum of cash and was last seen running into the rear car park before getting into a beige-coloured, early model station wagon.

Senior Constable Tony Williams said detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) were still investigating the hold-up.

"We're hoping that someone from the public will recognise the offender from the footage and call Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or crimestoppers.com.au," Snr Cnst Williams said.

"We're concerned about it and continuing to investigate it.

"The CIB attended on the day and established a crime scene."

The man was believed to be about 182cm tall, 30 to 40 years of age and Caucasian, with no distinguishable features.

He was wearing a light-coloured beanie, dark sunglasses, blue jeans, blue runners and a dark brown jumper with light-coloured writing on the front.
