FAR North Coast soccer is alive and well and looking forward to a big future following Saturday’s annual senior awards night at the Lismore Workers Club.
More than 250 people representing 26 affiliated clubs joined Page MP Janelle Saffin, State Lismore MP Thomas Geo-rge and Lismore mayor Jenny Dowell to honour the code’s best and brightest local players.
Football Far North Coast general manager Steve Mackney descr-ibed it as a fantastic night and said he wasexcited about the upcoming grand final at Lismore’s Oakes Oval next month.
“Football is growing on the Far North Coast and it is already overwhelmingly the biggest participation sport in the region,” he said.
Dave Annetts, of the Goonellabah club, took out the top men’s Player of the Year, and Sarah Flower, from the Richmond Rovers, took out the women’s award.
