Aubusson secure at Roosters

BALLINA junior Mitch Aubusson has been rewarded for his outstanding form at the Roosters in 2010 with a two-year contract extension which locks him into the tri-colours until the end of the 2013 NRL season.

The 22-year-old was switched from the centres to the second-row by new Roosters coach Brian Smith and the move has resulted in Aubusson producing his best footy at the top level.

Set to return to the side after a two-week lay-off with a shoulder injury, Aubusson is excited to have his future secured at Bondi.

“This is a great club and I am happy to be contracted here long-term,” he said.

“We have a great young team that has been playing together for a number of years now so to know I will be a part of that progress is great.”

Smith, from Casino, was also pleased to have Aubusson locked in at the club.

“Mitchell has been a stand-out player for us this year and to be able to ensure that we have him here for a number of years is great for the Roosters,” Smith said.

“He has really come of age this season and his performances have been top class. We are looking forward to watching him develop and become a leader in our team over the coming seasons.”

Should Aubusson stay free of major injury he is set to pass the 150-game mark for the Roosters by the time his contract expires.
