Tons of fun for Jake and Kale

YOUNG Lismore bats-man Jake Hellyar proved to be the star of the Wanderers Australia Under-17 cricket trip to the United Kingdom.

YOUNG Lismore bats-man Jake Hellyar proved to be the star of the Wanderers Australia Under-17 cricket trip to the United Kingdom.

Jake scored 330 runs from six innings at an average of 110.

His efforts included two centuries – 132 not out against Mumbles CC in Wales and 109 not out against Newent School near Worcester.

The Wanderers team comprised young cricketers from throughout Australia and also included Jake’s Goonellabah Workers Sports Cricket Club teammate Kale Hare.

The boys played eight games in 19 days in England and Wales, winning all but their first and last fixtures.

The itinerary also included sightseeing in London, a trip to World War I battlefields in France, and a Twenty20 international between Australia and Pakistan at Edgbaston in Birm-ingham.
