FOUR young Northern Rivers footballers are one step away from the pinnacle of junior rugby league honours after being selected to represent NSW at the Australian Rugby League championships.
Damian Sironen, Jackson Clarke and Anthony Colman of Ballina Seagulls, and Ed Murphy of the Casino Cougars, were chosen after impressing at the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges selection trials in Sydney last weekend.
Murphy and Sironen will contest the Australian Championships at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast from July 11-16 with an eye to the Australian Schoolboys squad which will tour England and France later this year.
Clarke and Coleman, meanwhile, are in Canberra contesting their version and will return home on Friday.
