EXPATRIATE Main Arm boxer Laura Saperstein is on the verge of a world title bout after cruising to her 10th victory in London.

Saperstein, 38, remains undefeated in her boxing career after leaving her life as a lawyer to take up the ‘sweet science' a few years ago.

Her latest win could be the sweetest; with it came some long-lost self-belief.

Giving away almost 30kg in weight to a veteran of 32 pro fights in Bulgarian Borislava Goranover, Saperstein used her skill to craft out a comfortable points decision at York Hall in the English capital city. The final score in the six-round bout was 60-54.

For Saperstein the result was never in doubt.

“Despite the weight difference I felt very comfortable and relaxed in the ring,” she said.

And although she has been tabled an offer to fight for a world title, Saperstein is keen to build towards that goal rather than jump at the opportunity.

The Australian-born English citizen will pursue English and British title fights beforehand.

“Financially it's very difficult, and it might be easier with a big title behind me,” she said.

“I've wanted to do things the right way around; having a legitimate English or British title behind me and boxing next to the men I've grown alongside in the gym would be a dream come true.”

After years of forging her way in the male-dominated sport, the girl with the 10-0 record is finally starting to feel that she belongs in the ring.

“I finally don't feel like the new kid on the block any more, having earned my stripes quietly on little shows at home and abroad,” she said.
