THE fact that ‘Patsy’ is a dairy cow will be understated by Casino’s Beef Week Committee members, who are keen to promote a good steak rather than three serves of milk product each day.
But to the students of Clunes Primary School, who named the painted fibreglass bovine, ‘Patsy’ will always remind them of a healthy dairy diet and a grand time competing in a national dairy promotion.
Beef Week president Stuart George said his committee was happy to pay $500 to the school for the highly-decorated cow, regarded as one of the best painted in the country, according to a Victorian judge in the ‘Picasso Cows’ project – in which the Clunes students took part.
Mr George, who came to the school yesterday to relieve the students of their cow, was accompanied by Beef Week vice-president Frank McKey, who delivered the students’ creation to Casino in his work truck.
Considering a lot of mince comes from the offspring of dairy cows, Mr McKey was not put off by ‘Patsy’s’ obvious udder.
The pair refused to elaborate on how ‘Patsy’ would appear to Beef Week visitors once the committee’s ‘craft ladies’ got stuck into her.
