LISMORE has claimed the under-19 interdistrict cricket championship for the 13th time with a comfortable win over Casino at Oakes Oval, Lismore, on Sunday night.
Dain Moreton was again the star with a five-wicket haul for the home side. His LJ Hooker team-mate at Brothers, Ben Cooper, steered the side to victory with an unbeaten 20-run knock.
Casino won the toss and elected to bat with their opening pair the obvious strength.
But their advantage was quickly quashed as Jeremy Cowin crashed through the openers, removing them both for ducks to have the visitor limping before they could walk.
Tyler McClelland put Casino back in the match with a top score of 42 and was well supported by Matt Barber (15) in the middle-order.
But the spin tandem of Moreton (5-15) and Jake Nind (2-15) were relentless, removing Casino for a total of 82.
Steady was the way for Lismore with all batsmen making a contribution on the way to victory. Cooper was cool under the pump and got help from Cameron Black (19) and Ryan Howard (16).
