OPPONENTS of one of two residential developments at Main Arm said yesterday they were willing to take legal action to amend the present plans.
Nick Gazzard and other members of the Main Arm Residents Association attended a meeting of Byron Shire Council yesterday to express further concerns at the Davis development on the south side of the village.
“We are not opposed to some development,” Mr Gazzard said, “but the scope of this is unacceptable.”
The group’s warning was in response to a threat by the developer to take the case to the Land and Environment Court, he said.
“We were hoping the developer would take on some of our concerns but none of them has been addressed. For instance, there is no reduction in the number of house lots.”
The group also had concerns about sewerage and waste water, he said.
The Davis project and a proposal by ReGenesis would see more than 40 new sites in the hamlet, in which there are 11 homes.
Taking buffer zones into consideration, there was room for about half that number of new house lots, Mr Gazzard said.
