TWO North Coast gymnasts will take on some of the best at the World Cup in Japan next month.
Amy Behan and Sophie Beucker have been selected to represent Australia in one of the first major events for the 2010 season.
The pair hope their efforts in Japan will enable them to make it to the world championships in France.
The trip will be Amy’s first time competing for Australia in an overseas event and it will be Sophie’s second.
The North Coast Academy of Gymnastics at South Lismore, where the girls train, has been developing talent in many gym sports in the last few years with many gymnasts and athletes selected to State and national teams.
The academy is recognised as one of the most successful gymnastic clubs on the North Coast.
The academy last year had gymnasts and athletes at national championships in rhythmic gymnastics, sports aerobics, acrobatic gymnastics and cheerleading.
Amy and Sophie are looking for sponsors to help with the cost of travelling internationally.
