THE Far North CoastLJ Hooker League cricket derby between Lennox Head and Tintenbar-East Ballina hangs in the balance.

The ’Bar was rolled for 98 and Lennox replied with 110.

Lennox Head’s Sri Lankan import Jeewan De Silva has been the standout player, taking 5-15 with the ball and top-scoring with 26 runs in tricky conditions.

With the wicket still soggy from a week’s rain, Tintenbar lost the toss and had to bat, with captain Phil Dalli immediately trapped in front for a duck.

Lennox quicks Paul Milgate and Liam McIllhatton rattled through the top order, reducing Tintenbar to 5-12.

Milgate took his season wickets tally to 31.

Brothers Kent Shay (22) and Luke Shay (14) got the visitors back on track with a 23-run stand before De Silva struck.

Only a late dig of 29 from Abe Crawford – his highest score of the season – added credibility to the scorecard.

Lennox got off to a much better start to be 3-73 after 25 overs.

Jake Reid and De Silva put on 44 for the fourth wicket before Tintenbar-East Ballina’s bowling attack found the mark.

Brett Crawford grabbed the wickets of Rameesh Kassim (12) and Reid (26) before Abe Crawford joined in with three wickets to wrap up the tail.

Alstonville (124) looks set for first innings points against South Tweed Colts (8-32), with Terry Murphy scoring 32 and taking 4-14.
