DEFENDING titleholder Ian Loudoun is the form driver going into the Sprintcar Gold Cup at Lismore Speedway tomorrow night.

Loudoun is enjoying another successful season and he arrives in Lismore fresh from another main event win at Parramatta City Raceway in Sydney last weekend.

His form in the second half of the season has picked up substantially after a slow start by his own high standards.

“Lismore has been good to me in the past and I hope to continue on that winning form with another Gold Cup victory this Saturday night,” Loudoun said yesterday.

Loudoun’s team-mate Adrian Maher also will be on hand, along with some of the biggest names from the sanctioning Sprintcar Association of NSW, headed by triple Australian champion Max Dumesny.

Queenslanders Brodie Tulloch and Steve Wright also have entered, as well as Daniel Goldini from the Northern Territory.

Dumesny is the best credentialled driver on the entry list.

In addition to his three Australian titles, Dumesny also has won the national sprintcar series – officially known as the World Series Sprintcars Championship – seven times.

Up-and-coming Glenn Saville also has entered. Saville is the son of Ian Saville, a former winner of the time-honoured Australian Speedcar Grand Prix.

Promoter David Lander said the Sprintcar Gold Cup tomorrow night should be a tough affair with the likes of Loudoun, Dumesny and Maher in the field.

“They are three highly talented drivers who always give their best. On a track like Lismore, this should promise to be a very exciting Sprintcar race,” Lander said.

Lander continues his admission policy of all children aged 12 and under being admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
