AN innings of 100 not out by Clunes bats-man Dain Moreton highlighted Lismore’s easy win over Tweed in the Far North Coast Under-16 interdistrict cricket final yesterday.
Lismore (5-197) defeated Tweed (103) in the final at Rabjones Oval, Murwillumbah.
Moreton, who also plays in the Far North Coast LJ Hooker League for Marist Brothers, has had an outstanding season in school and junior representative cricket.
Jake Hellyar (50) was the other Lismore batsman among the runs yesterday, while Nick De Giusti, James Murphy and Nathan Langley each picked up two wickets.
Nathanael Scott almost replicated Moreton’s feat in the Under-14 final, making 99 not out in Ballina’s win over Brunswick Valley.
Ballina (7-214) defeated Brunswick Valley (9-95) on the synthetic wicket at Kingsford Smith Park North, Ballina.
Ben Frost chipped in with 24 in the Ballina innings, while Douglas Jarvis top-scored for Brunswick Valley with 34. Frost completed a useful double by taking three wickets.
