Franz Ferdinand

TICKETS might have sold out in a week but Pulse is giving one lucky reader the chance to win a double pass to the Byron Bay pub gig of the year – Franz Ferdinand at the Beach Hotel.

On Friday, February 26, the Scottish indie rock group will play their first intimate show outside the capital city circuit with Australian band Yves Klein Blue in support.

With three critically acclaimed albums under their belt (Franz Ferdinand, You Could Have It So Much Better and last year’s Tonight: Franz Ferdinand), Franz Ferdinand return to Australia later this month to headline the Future Music Festival.

The band is excited they are able to take time out of their busy touring schedule to play one of Australia’s most beautiful towns as part of The JD Summer Set – pub gigs sponsored by Jack Daniels.

“We have played Byron Bay once before in 2004 on one of our first trips to Australia at the Splendour in the Grass festival and it still stands up as one of the most exciting shows the band has played in the world with a fantastic audience involvement, and hopefully The JD Summer Set show in 2010 will go some way to repeating the experience,” they said.

It has been a massive 12 months for indie rockers Brisbane’s Yves Klein Blue, who will open the set at the Beach Hotel.

Yves Klein Blue has toured the UK, appeared at a myriad of festivals, including Q150, Splendour in the Grass, Homebake, Falls and Soundwave Festival.

2010 looks set to launch them into international superstardom – in the middle of all that travelling, they released their debut long player, Ragged & Ecstatic, to critical acclaim.

Yves Klein Blue’s live shows have a reputation for blasting their audience and will no doubt warm up the room for Franz Ferdinand.

If you managed to score a ticket to the Byron Bay pub gig of the year, get to the Beach Hotel at 4pm when doors open – there will be an outdoor barbecue and DJs spinning tunes. If you missed out on tickets, Pulse is giving one lucky reader the chance to win a double pass.
