THREE men escaped injury when the helicopter they were in crash landed on a precarious mountain ridge north west of Woodenbong.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was called to search for the helicopter about 2pm, somewhere ‘in the Kyogle region’, after the pilot of the Robinson helicopter reported getting into difficulty on his mobile phone.
The downed helicopter was eventually found on its side on the top of a sheer ridge in the Mt Barney National Park, between Woodenbong and the Queensland border.
The three men on board, aged in their 30s and 40s, were all uninjured, and were sitting calmly a short, but safe, distance from the crashed chopper when the Westpac helicopter arrived.
The three men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were flown to Woodenbong to speak with police. None required hospital treatment.
