Residents approve Kyogle Fringe

THE first Kyogle Fringe Festival, held in September, has been given the tick of approval by residents.

Kyogle’s Main Street was converted into a World Rally Championship service centre during a stage of the event, held in the Kyogle and Tweed shires in September.

THE first Kyogle Fringe Festival, held in September, has been given the tick of approval by residents.

A report on the social impact study into the festival showed about 72 per cent of the 101 people surveyed would like to see the festival held again.

About 23 per cent of respondents said they would like the festival to be held every two years at the same time as the Repco Rally, while 22 per cent said they would like it to be held annually, and 8 per cent thought it should be held between rally years.

About 28 per cent said they would not welcome another festival. Those who did not want the festival said it was because it was a waste of ratepayers’ money, was associated with the rally and did not see the point of it.

The report identified one of the benefits of the rally was as an opportunity for the people of Kyogle to work together in the spirit of artistic creativity.
