Student in critical condition

A 14-year-old student from Mullumbimby High School was rushed to hospital after an altercation in the grounds of the school yesterday morning.

The Year 9 student suffered serious head injuries, Police Media in Sydney said last night.

The male student remains in a critical condition.

Ambulance paramedics and police were called to the school following the incident and the student was transported to Mullumbimby hospital.

Police last night would not confirm what type of incident had occurred, but said it happened around 11.15am.

Officers from the Tweed/Byron Local Area Command were called to attend the scene and remained at the school continuing investigations late last night.

Forensic police were also called in to assist the investigation.
